about me

AMANDA MELISSA SQUILLACE is an elementary teacher working with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. She is also a Master of Education student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, affiliated with the University of Toronto.  Her emphasis is in Wellbeing, with a focus in mental health and holistic education. Her passion and research aims to create, promote, and fluidly implement a robust MENTAL HEALTH CURRICULUM that HOLISTICALLY educates and sparks self discovery. While taking her current course titled, Holistic Approaches to Information Technology with Dr. Selia Karsten, Amanda has curated MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS, a web-based project designed to highlight the importance of mental health education with a holistic implementation.

Mental health is an integral piece of our overall health, which is why we must ensure our classrooms are healthy environments that support wellness and authentic development. Amanda has discovered avenues for educating teachers and other education staff on the importance of integrating mindfulness into Ontario schools by tapping into the MIND, BODY and SOUL of each student.  It is with great hope that this website inspires educators and other education staff to better understand how to teach mental health as a lifelong journey of learning, growth, and self discovery.
